BENEFITS

The Department is committed to building a workplace culture that embraces diversity and values the differences in views, experiences and backgrounds of our people.

To support this commitment we have established diversity staff networks that provide important mechanisms to connect with one another, and we actively encourage our staff to get involved with days of significance on our diversity calendar.

Our Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender and Intersex (LGBTI) community have created Rainbow Jam, an internal social media site for LGBTI staff and friends to connect, and share information and experiences.

Our Diversity Champion and Co-Champion provide additional support to our diversity cohorts, including our LGBTI staff, by driving initiatives to strengthen workplace diversity and inclusiveness across the Department.

Tom Jackson Refugee and Humanitarian Visa Management Division

Whilst working for the Department I have enjoyed getting involved in workplace diversity initiatives, including founding Rainbow Jam, our internal LGBTI social media space. The Department offers an inclusive, respectful and supportive workplace and we’ve had success promoting and engaging with the annual AWEI Survey, May 17 and Wear it Purple Day.
