Established in South Africa in the 1980s to underwrite self-insurance programs for large corporate clients and banks, Hollard now comprises insurance businesses throughout Africa as well as Europe, India, China, Australia and New Zealand. The vision of Hollard’s founders was to build an enduring business by partnering with leading insurance intermediaries and by offering customers quality products and outstanding service. This is the same spirit that drives the Australian business today.

Our DNA

Making it happen together, creating the path and delivering on our commitments

We are People Changing Insurance Partnership. We have a long history of generating new business lines and fresh-thinking, both here in Australia and overseas. That’s why we encourage you to originate and pursue new ideas — and recognise and reward entrepreneurial thinking.

Innovation. We’re the company that delivered award-winning innovations like Pay as You Drive, with more ground-breaking solutions in the pipeline. By joining us, you’ll have the opportunity to create and develop the new ideas that will shape the Australian insurance market for years to come.

Accountability. We believe in empowering our people, giving them the autonomy they need to deliver outstanding value, with processes and systems designed to support innovation, not stifle it. So if you have a great idea, you can put it into action, then see your achievements celebrated and rewarded. Inclusion. We believe that diversity and inclusion strengthens all areas of our business by leveraging off the diverse characteristics of our people. This is grounded in our DNA; People Changing Insurance whereby we are committed to promoting and fostering equal opportunities in all areas of Hollard.

We embrace, leverage and respect the diversity of our employees, customers and communities in which we live, work and contribute.

Flex Both Ways: At Hollard, flexible work arrangements (Flex Both Ways), support the transition of our employees at different life stages such as returning from parental leave or transitioning to retirement. Hollard encourages a balanced approach to work and life to enable a diverse workplace that promotes productivity through flexible work options.

Reward and Recognition programs: Hollard values the contributions made by each individual, our recognition program allows everyone to be recognised for a job well done. Recognition comes in many forms, from a simple thank you note to a nomination for a prestigious Hoscar Award where you can visit a South African Game park and the Hollard campus.

Diversity & Inclusion: We are committed to the principle that diversity and inclusion will help us realise our greatest potential as a company and maximise the potential of all of our employees. This includes support for parents returning to work, flexible work arrangements, kids at work day and many other initiatives that support our unique and varied work culture.

Industry leading Benefits: Score some great bargains for fun weekend activities, shopping and petrol discounts, keep healthy and fit with gym and wellbeing discounts, enjoy discounts on appliances and clothing or get reductions on comprehensive insurance products. Hollard’s employee benefits cater for a variety of tastes, lifestyles and locations.

Career Growth: Our employees are supported to succeed in their career aspirations with development planning and access to vacancies across the Hollard group. Our culture to promote from within where possible ensures our employees are continuously growing and challenging themselves to strive for their next opportunity.

In 2017 Hollard joined Pride in Diversity, Australia’s only employer support program for LGBTI inclusion in the workplace and embarked on a journey to become employer of choice in its industry. In 2018 we launched our LGBTI allies network, and are currently working on a range of different initiatives aiming to create an emotionally safe work environment for all employees who identify as LGBTI.

Hollard is growing, and growing fast. For you, that means new opportunities to succeed in a dynamic Australian company with global connections. But it isn’t just rapid growth that makes Hollard such an exciting place to work. It’s the culture behind our growth that makes us an insurance company like no other.
