Dael Smit

Joining Powerlink as a Development Engineer was an exciting leap for me, but what truly made it an exceptional experience was the warm welcome I received. From the moment I stepped through the door, I immediately felt included and valued. Seeing rainbow pride lanyards adorning the necks of my colleagues and a vibrant rainbow mural proudly displayed in the office filled me with a sense of belonging. It was more than just decorative; it was a powerful statement of inclusivity and acceptance.

In an industry where diversity and inclusion can sometimes feel like an afterthought, Powerlink stood out as a beacon of progressiveness. The presence of LGBTQ+ representation in the workplace sent a clear message that everyone, regardless of their background or identity, is not only accepted but celebrated.

This inclusive environment did not just stop at visual cues; it was ingrained in the company culture. I found myself surrounded by colleagues who were not only talented professionals but also compassionate individuals who embraced differences and fostered a sense of community. Whether it was collaborating on projects or simply sharing lunchtime conversations, I have always felt like an integral part of the team.

My journey at Powerlink has been nothing short of transformative, and it all started with that feeling of inclusivity that greeted me from day one. It is a testament to the company’s commitment to creating a workplace where everyone feels valued, respected, and empowered to thrive. I am proud to be a part of such a forward-thinking organisation, and I look forward to contributing to its culture of inclusivity for years to come.
