WHO WE ARE

We are the lawyers of choice in the construction, property and insurance industries in Australia.

We’re proud of our history which dates to 1900, when Colin Biggers & Paisley was established. Since then, a lot has changed. From the invention and advancement of technology to the law itself, Colin Biggers & Paisley has continued to remain focused on the foundation it was built: excellence in legal advice, service, systems and outcomes.

It’s exceptional people and an unrelenting commitment to our clients that’s led Colin Biggers & Paisley from strength to strength over the last century.

MORE ABOUT US

Over the past five years we have more than doubled in size. We have over 460 employees, offices in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney, and a record of excellence and high partner engagement. We have built a dynamic culture of innovation, opportunity and balance. It applies it to the solutions we create for our clients and the careers we build for our people.

Our core fields of expertise are construction, property and insurance and we maintain a strong presence in the areas of agribusiness, banking and finance, education, energy, mining and resources, and government.

INCLUSION AND DIVERSITY

Our goal is to create a practice as diverse as the world around us. We believe in equality and provide all employees with opportunities to build and advance their careers in a way that is meaningful and fair. Our core values of balance, respect, loyalty and integrity underpin everything we do.

We foster a diverse culture that’s inclusive of gender, religion, disability and sexual orientation. Our staff reflect the variety of races, religions, cultures and social backgrounds that characterise the Australian population.

We believe new ideas stem from diverse perspectives and recognise it’s these differences that helps us acquire and retain top talent, build the best teams for our clients and deliver the highest calibre service. Our aim is to be recognised as a leading promoter of inclusion and diversity in the legal profession. We do this by actively promoting equality, diversity and inclusion initiatives.

We have six different resource streams: gender and flexibility, age and generation, people with disabilities, LGBTI and cultural. Employees from different facets of our business act as advisors to our inclusion and diversity leadership team in each of these areas.

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR

We’re looking for people who are as ambitious as they are responsible; who want to be challenged and supported in their career path.

We want people who are authentic and honest – who want to be a part of the unique culture that Colin Biggers & Paisley offers. We’re looking for people who aspire to make a difference, and who want to give back through the Colin Biggers & Paisley Foundation.

THE COLIN BIGGERS & PAISLEY FOUNDATION

We fulfil our role as global citizens through our Colin Biggers & Paisley Foundation which brings together our entire community offering and is comprised of three streams – pro bono legal services, volunteering and charitable contributions. The Foundation’s core strategy is to promote and protect the rights of women and children in Australia and abroad. We work with individuals and not-for-profit organisations that work on behalf of low income or disadvantaged members of the community.

Lucy Chen, Started as a Paralegal and now a Solicitor

Colin Biggers & Paisley continues to actively provide a supportive and inclusive environment for its employees. As a member of the LGBTI community, I am incredibly proud to be in a workplace that allows me to embrace my sexual orientation. I definitely recommend new lawyers and staff to Colin Biggers & Paisley as a place that values diversity and openness.
