Google’s mission is to organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful. We create access to information and build products that improve people’s lives through technology development & engineering, search, sales & services, and business partnerships.

Our founders wanted to build something really useful for people and everything else followed.  Engineers at Google Australia work on all kinds of things, including Google Maps, Google Drive, Chrome, and products for the next generation of internet users coming online.

Roles at Google span engineering & technology, design, sales, service & support, marketing & communications, business strategy, finance, people operations, facilities, and legal. We’re looking for optimistic problem solvers that want to make a difference.

Our Australian offices in Sydney and Melbourne form part of our global offices in 150+ cities spanning nearly 60 countries.

There’s no one kind of Googler. We’re always looking for people who can bring new perspectives and life experiences to our teams. If you’re looking for a place that values your curiosity, passion, and desire to learn, if you’re seeking colleagues who are big thinkers eager to take on fresh challenges as a team, then you’re a future Googler.

60,000+ Googlers globally. About 1,200 in Australia

We want Googlers to be happy and healthy both inside and outside of work. Our benefits are all based on the philosophy that taking care of our people is good for all of us. We know that everyone is different, so this is constantly evolving based on employee needs and feedback. That includes offering benefits that serve the unique needs of our Googlers and give them choices, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity.

Our goal is to make Google the greatest place for everyone to work. We create an environment where Googlers can feel comfortable bringing their whole selves to their work, so they can be more innovative, creative, and inspired at work. You can learn about the many ways we make Google a workplace for everyone by visiting

We have more than 20 Employee Resource Groups – networks of people who share support diversity. The Gayglers are a close-knit community of LGBTi and Ally employees.

Our Gayglers also play a critical role in using our products to support the LGBTi community, such as The Story of Jacob and the City Gym – the first-ever global brand advertising to prominently feature the story of someone who is transgender, and Places of Pride – a custom map to celebrate and remember pride stories, memories, and moments, by marking their significant locations with a Pride Pin.

David Hewitt

David Hewitt Programmatic Technology Consultant & Gaygler Lead

I have worked at Google Australia for over 5 years and I’m currently working with technology, telecommunications, automotive and entertainment companies on ways that technology can transform their business and the relationship they have with their customers.

As a 20% project I also lead our Australian LGBTi network, the Gayglers. Google has always been a strong supporter of diversity and inclusion around the world and in Australia we have developed a number of unique partnerships including becoming Industry Partner to Out for Australia, Corporate supporter of the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Business Association and a Major Partner of Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras for the last 6 years. With over 150 people in our network locally and Gaygler groups across the world, we have a strong community to ensure we are at the forefront of LGBTi diversity and inclusion.
